Muzzleloaders can be found as early as the 1500's. They have progressed from primative unreliable firearms to modern very reliabable firearms. In the muzzleloader courses (pistol, shotgun, rifle) you will relive the history. You will be allowed to load and fire an assorted variety of firearms.
The NRA and the NMLRA (National Muzzle Loading Rifle Assc) have joined forces to train and promote the continued existance of the black powder firearms. The NMLRA is the leading authority on Muzzle Loading. Established in 1933, headquartered in Friendship IN, they have established training from centuries of experience to allow you to shoot safely. There are rigid rules to follow becausing YOU are the key element to safely handling an explosive product, Black Powder. Black Powder comes in different forms and varieties. There is also sythentic Black Power. It is more stable, but all black powder can be dangerous if misused.
The NRA has composed a soft cover handbook for each discipline. These are included in the course. The handbook is your's to keep.
MUZZLELOADER RIFLE: (12 HOURS) The Flintlock, Percussion, and Modern In-Line are used in the Rifle Course. These are modern reproductions but the mystical aire still surrounds the old style. Through use of video and hands-on TOTAL PARTICIPANT INVOLVEMENT you will experience the nostalgic sensations of defending your home from the Red Coats or other hostile people / animals. You will learn the proper Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude to safe firearm and black powder operations. You will learn the history behind the firearms of yesterday, and how trial and error has evolved to bring us to the "modern" muzzleloader. This a fun course, but be prepared to step back when the 50 caliber shudders your body ! ! !

Henry Knox of Boston was a librarian. His knowledge of every battle and military strategy from his reading of history proved invaluable to General George Washington. Washington recruited Knox and made him a Major General (2 stars). Knox became our first Secretary of War. After his successful command in the War of Independence, he returned home. Knoxville Tennessee bears his name in his honor, as do several other cities and counties in the United States.
