Level I Handgun:
Basic Pistol &
Tennessee Carry Permit (CCW) Class
GOAL: To develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and legal use of firearms following the Tennessee Carry Permit course first with HGR Firearms Instructors. This Basic course has 2 options.
Those who want extra instruction BEFORE taking the Carry Permit Class can choose this Option. We use your gun and give you 3-5 hours of 1:1 dual with the instructor. After that you can take the regular class. PRE-CARRY PERMIT CLASS: a little extra time & practice
The Regular class is an introduction to safe firearms marksmanship. Our basic class incorporates HANDS ON TRAINING. You handle, load, unload, and shoot modern revolvers, western revolvers, and semi-automatic handguns. You will shoot BB guns, & guns in .22lr, .38, .357., 9mm, and .45 ACP calibers. Those are included in the cost. You are issued a NRA course book to keep. Then we focus on your gun and guide you in safe operations with your gun in this comprehensive Tennessee Carry Permit Class. BRING YOUR OWNERS MANUAL TO CLASS. ** More training is possible, just read on below.
It is strongly recommend-
ed the student completes the next two levels of NRA Training or next 3 levels of HGR Firearms Tactical Pistol. This Basic course qualifies you for the advanced pistol classes whether it's NRA for HGR
Personal Protection In the Home, Then Level III Personal Protection Outside the Home, and HGR's Level 4 Tactical Pistol. All 4 combined give you the best possible Tennessee Carry Permit (CCW) Course possible for educational classes.
10 Hours: Includes 5 hours of classroom time (Basics of Marksmanship, Legal Aspects, Cleaning, Storage, Safety Rules and Guide-lines, including Training on the schools Revolvers, Western revolvers, and semi-Automatics). Laser Sights are now used to help you learn faster !!
The First Class:
Ammo: You will need 150 rounds for the firearm with which you wish to qualify.
Class Size: 20 Maximum to give you a better instructor / student ratio not offered by other schools.
Successful completion of this HGR course qualifies you for Personal Protection In the Home course listed on this page. |

Did You Know? Tennessee Carry is not a concealed carry permit state, you can conceal or carry open. This
important. In some "concealed only states" you can be arrested for allowing someone to see your gun. Example: You
are changing a flat tire and while bent over the coat rides above the weapon exposing it. A simple unintentional act
yet violates the law. It's important that we keep OUR TENNESSEE LAW as a Carry Law, NOT A CONCEALED LAW .
